How to make: Banana Bread!

Sunday, January 12, 2014

This is the first of many editions to my 'How to make' series so I hope you enjoy them! Today's how to make, is a Healthier version of the beloved banana bread! I have been dying to make this since I came back from University; so here we go! One small note now, your bananas should be a lot darker than the ones I have used, I couldn't wait to have it but it turned out well anyway.

Ingredients:

- 3 to 4 small bananas
- 2 whole eggs or just the egg whites
- 1 cup of wholewheat flour
- 1/2 cup of plain flour
- 1 tsp of vanilla
- 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- Optional ingredients: Honey, chopped nuts, chocolate chips, etc.

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 180°c.

Step 2: Mash the bananas together in bowl till they have a smooth consistency and there
are no large lumps of banana. Add in the vanilla, eggs and optional ingredients.

Step 3: Mix all of the dry ingredients together (wholewheat flour, plain flour, baking
powder and baking soda). Then proceed to add the dry ingredients into the wet
mixture and mix till it is combined well and pour it into a tin that can replicate a
loaf shape; for this I used an old lurpak tin with a grease proof baking sheet (to
make sure my bread didn't stick to the tin and to save on the washing up!)

Step 4: Put the banana bread into the oven and set a time for 45 to 50 minutes. This
process may take longer due to size of loaf and wetness of mixture.

Step 5: To check your banana bread or any item when baking such as cupcakes, you
should insert a wooden cocktail stick into the middle and pull it out. If it comes
out clean then it is most likely read to be left out to cool.  Once it has cooled
slightly you are ready to cut into it and devour!

There you go, simple, easy and certainly yummy Banana Bread Loaf! Ready to eat in under an hour. I would love to see some of your own recipes for banana bread or if you would like to try this one that would be great!  Tweet or Instgram pictures with the #howtomakeblog:)

P.S. I warmed mine up in the microwave for 30 seconds with a spoon full of vanilla ice cream...it's to die for!!!

Thanks!
